Semiotics
Study of signs and symbols
how meaning is constructed and understood
--------------------------------------
It is classified into three branches:
Semantics - SIGNS <- relation -> THINGS
Syntactics - SIGN <- relation in formal structure -> SIGN
ie. Rule for constructing sentences into natural languages
Pragmatics - Relation of signs to their impacts on those who use them
How the arrangement of words and phrases can alter the meaning of a sentence
--------------------------------------
Here is a riddle. Answer will upload in the comment. Have fun!

Can you get that?
回覆刪除The doctor is a woman but not his father (man).
If you always think that the doctor is a man, then you are being in the inertia thinking. People usually stereotyped that doctor is man, nurse must be woman. They are being trapped into the blind spot. And this is also called semiotics. A particular thing, in general view, associates to a particular meaning.
I will discuss more on what is stereotype in my later post.
